Introduction

Proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques at work can help reduce the spread of these potentially serious viruses and diseases. This course will teach you how to develop, implement, and maintain a cleaning and disinfecting plan to keep your workspace healthy.

This course introduces the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidance that focuses on cleaning and disinfecting public spaces, workplaces, businesses, and schools.

The course is intended for business owners, managers, and employees; school administrators, teachers, and support staff; government managers and employees; and anyone working for a private or public organization.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

LO 1.1.1 Describe the steps in developing a plan, implementing the plan, and revising the plan for disinfecting public spaces.
LO 1.1.2 List and give examples for each of the three categories of cleaning plans.
LO 1.1.3 Discuss methods to decrease the risk of exposure to infectious agents such as influenza and coronaviruses.
LO 1.1.4 Describe safe behavioral practices to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
LO 1.1.5 Describe how to evaluate your workplace to determine what kinds of surfaces and materials make up that area.
LO 1.1.6 Explain how to determine the type of cleaning required for your worksite.
LO 1.1.7 Discuss how to determine what needs to be disinfected at your worksite.
